The Lodestars Anthology Pathways Book

Lodestars Anthology: Pathways shines a photographic light on 12 of the most memorable paths and trails the ever-growing Lodestars team has traversed since the magazine’s launch in 2014. It captures the details found along these routes (the personalities, landscapes and traditions encountered), as well as the accompanying sense of discovery and wonder.

Each journey we take has a beginning and an end but, in this book, we want to relish the bits in between. So, whether leading you over mountain passes in the Italian Alps, along rivers of the most improbable hues or through sprawling, cosmopolitan capitals with their bevy of gourmet delights, we want to inspire you to follow these paths, embrace wanderlust and appreciate the moment. This book is more than a guide. It captures the lives of the people we meet, the joys of travel, and the cultures and landscapes that remind us to adventure on.

About Lodestars Anthology

Lodestars Anthology is an independent magazine-meets-journal for curious travellers who long to be inspired, see the world and meet interesting characters along the road. Focusing on one country per issue, Lodestars is a scrapbook of place, a magazine that goes deep into the heart of a location and uncovers its quirks, flavours and splendour, taking a truly personal, beautifully crafted and slow approach to the art of travel journalism.

With stunning photography, thoughtful and beautifully written stories, and original illustrations - produced in Bristol by a small independent press with an eye for detail and a love for print – Lodestars is a thing of beauty in its own right. You’ll probably want to keep it atop a coffee table, or perhaps you’ll want to fill it with scribblings and notes and stow it away in your travel bag for inspiration whilst on the road.

In recent issues we’ve rambled up the Keele River by canoe; gone hawk-walking in the bonnie braes, found paradise on Lord Howe Island, been foraging at Daylesford, hitched a ride with ice-road truckers to Aklavik, and taken a turn around the garden with Antonio Carluccio . . . We’ve been for a dip in a lost lake, practiced the art of Fika in Stockholm, gone cattle-wrangling in the Kimberley, wandered Tuscan hills with saffron farmers, and much more besides.

In 2018 we said bonjour to France and namaste to India, and re-issued an updated version of our original England magazine. Last year we ventured to Portugal and Switzerland … and this year it’s Mexico and Greece, with many more adventures to other intriguing destinations in the pipeline too.

So if you like the idea of receiving a little piece of beautifully produced incitement to wanderlust through your letterbox several times a year, why not give the latest issue a try, dive into one of our back issues, or indulge in a subscription for yourself or a fellow travel-lover for the coming year, and join us on this great adventure?
